A bit about me: Rosie Barratt's journey in the Botanical and Floral Arts

Who's the creative force behind everything at Nature's Florals?

I'm a floral artist, all round lover of nature and the creative arts. I took a leap of faith into professional floristry and a new creative area back in late 2017. Before this I spent 14 years as a photographic picture researcher in publishing, loved every minute of it. Part of the job was being surrounded by beautiful Iconic imagery, just stunning and hugely inspiring. But a time came when I felt the need to invest time in my longstanding desire to be in a more physically creative job, not stuck behind a desk.

Something happens for me when arranging flowers it’s like a little bit of magic when time has stopped and the delicate but powerful natural forms in the arrangements take their own shape in a creative process. I'm looking to create beautiful arrangements and art pieces that allow the beauty to come through what is already there.

The excitement and energy when making what a client orders is fantastic, but equally a place of peace and contentment for me. I get to share all of this with all of you through the work that I adore so much.

My creativity with plants and flowers is pure exploration at times and to be honest I’ve always been at my happiest while using living and dried plants as a form of expression. I have studied various areas of art including, photography, glass, painting and now floristry. I love to carry on the process of exploring exciting new ideas and techniques.

The deep connection I have with plants and nature has been growing since I was a little girl. It all started from sharing a large proportion of my time as a child outside with nature in all its forms - in our family garden, at the allotment or camping. My father was a landscape gardener and by spending time outside with him so much it inspired my love of plants, as did my mothers creativity in the garden and many forms of art - through life this has been a constant and is what grounds me.
